A Hard Lesson

Slouched in my sofa, when I sat to pen down my thoughts, I felt very much rusted. My thoughts were broken and scattered and the blogger in me was waiting for something which would snap me out from my self-imposed lethargy. To free myself from this melancholy, I finally I went to the nearby garden to breathe some fresh air.

I was deeply engrossed in my fancy world thinking about absolutely absurd things when suddenly an old couple sitting beside me broke my chain of thoughts. The lady with a wrinkled smile and gloomy eyes said to her husband in a heavy tone” humari life aapke retirement k baad bahut badal gayi hai , jindagi mein ek khalipan pan aa gaya hai”. ( our life has very much changed after your retirement, it has become very lonely).  Their conversation receded as to how, all those years, celebrations were organized by many favor seekers, so-called friends and relatives. How during festivals, people would drop in since morning with their precious gifts to their house. The old couple was feeling highly downcast and depressed with their change of fortune.

Their conversation left me totally awestruck and saddened. Then all of a sudden it reminded me of a story which I had read in a newspaper which I like to share- A donkey was carrying idols of Gods on his back for an important annual religious puja. The donkey passed through a no. of villages on the way. Villagers bowed to the idols of the Gods. In every village, a crowd would throng to pay obeisance.
The donkey started thinking that people were bowing to him and was thrilled with this newfound respect. After leaving the idols at the place of the puja, his master loaded vegetables on him and they started their return journey. This time, nobody was paying any attention to the donkey. The cold-shouldered donkey felt so frustrated that he started braying to invite the attention of villagers - who became irritated with his non-stop braying and started beating him.

For once, it made me feel, we all are ‘’ donkeys” in this so-called race. All the gifts and overt gestures of respect and obeisance extended to us are actually for the positions we truly hold and how we could be of use for somebody.
I went home thinking, how our feelings and emotions have fallen pray of this materialistic world.........

कुछ दूर तुम भी मेरे साथ आते

Hi there, here i m sharing a poetry i heard in the movie 'Udaan' and liked so much.....

Anything for u ma'am : book review

Anything for u ma'am, a love story of a guy who happens to fall for her sister's best friend and how he puts his career on stake to meet his love.

Well, the book looks more like a Bollywood masala movie rather than a novel, with full of twist& turns and indigestible co-incidences. It lacks the flow, and sometimes you have to look back to find out what is exactly happening. At times, author gets totally digressed from the main plot, and it becomes too boring to read.

On the positive side, i liked the humorous childhood pranks and the poems penned down by author. To consider, that the author was in 4th year of his graduation, getting his work printed is a great accomplishment and i would appreciate his work for this very reason.Book could have been better if proper structure and flow was there.

So, the bottom line is, if you have a couple of days to spare or you have been wanting to try your hand at reading, it can be proved a good book to read.I would definitely not recommend it to someone who has already read a lot of books.

That's life

Here i m sharing a poetry i had read few years back ....

That's life, that's what all people say,

I am riding high in April,

shot down in may,

but i know, i am gonna change that tune,

when i am back on top; back on top in June,

i said that's life, and as funny as it may seem,

some people get their kicks, stomping on a dream,

but i don't let it; let it get me down,

because this world keeps spinning around,

i have been a pauper, a puppet, a pirate, a poet ,a pawn and a king,

i have been up and down, over and out, and i know one thing,

each time i find my self, flat on my face,

i pick up my self and get back in the race....

I too had a love story

The title looks like i m going to describe my incomplete love story, but there is nothing sort of that.
This is the title of the book i recently read, and it had such a deep impact on my heart that i couldn't resist my self writing about it. It is not every time we find such novels which take us to a mesmerizing world and definitely, it is one of them.
The author of this book is Ravinder Singh, and the story is based upon a true event occurred in his life. The novel begins with beautiful lines "Not everyone in this world has the fate to cherish the fullest form of love, some are born to experience the abbreviation of it". There is also a beautiful line on the dedication page which says" Tere jaane ka asar kkuch aisa hua, tujhe dhoodnte dhoondte khud ko paa liya"
Author casted such a magic in those 213 pages that it totally spellbound me throughout the story and, i could imagine the whole story in front of my eyes. The feelings and the emotions of falling in love have been so beautifully described that after reading the novel anybody would want to fall in love . To know, it was a true story, i could feel the pain the author would have gone through while writing it,that's the beauty of the this novel.
Everyone should read this novel once in a lifetime ........

Good Grief

On Monday, when Indians were busy in celebrating holi, it was apalling to hear about the violence created by some fractious fundamentalists of Karnataka over the publication of an article written by Taslima Nasreen. The article published in "kannada Prabha", a local newspaper was about burqa worn by muslim women.
It is shocking as to how a piece of paper can spark violence and aggression in a democratic and secular country like India. There can be no doubt that it is a game plan of obscurantist organisations to exploit such situations. This act done by fundamentalists questions our democracy and freedom.India, which is a country of different religions and different cultures, how can such condemnable acts be allowed?
But response of government was as bad as the violence created by people. In India, everyone has the right to express his or her views, and, those who try to suppress them should be punished. Strict actions should be taken by government to avoid such situations in future.
Young Indians should raise their voice against such acts,so that flares of extremism can be doused.
At the same time, free thinking writers must also avoid provocative words in their criticism.People writing should on such topics and, media publishing them, should be conscious about the consequences.
On the whole, everyone has the right to express his or her views unless it harms the sentiments of others and, those who try to suppress them, pose obstacles to the growth of society.
